To increase Veeam backup and recovery operations for Nutanix AHV, you can leverage Workers. Workers are Linux-based VMs play a crucial role in facilitating communication between the backup appliance and other components of Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV.
The backup appliance has the Worker role by default. However, this configuration is suitable only for small deployments with minimal traffic. In the case of larger deployments, deploying dedicated workers is recommended.
Veeam backup for AHV start and test workers when backup or restore task starts based on the host affinity settings, after the backup or restore task has been completes, Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV shuts down the worker VM.
How to Add Worker
- Open Nutanix AHV backup appliance Console
- From Configurations, go to Workers, then click Add
- Specify the Name and Description, then click Next
- Specify the Worker VM configurations:
- Choose the Storage Container
- Specify the Maximum concurrent tasks
- Set the Host affinity toggle to On, and select the host. If you turned it off, Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV will automatically select the host to launch the worker.
- Click Next
- Configure the Worker networking by add Network interface and select which network will be connected to, then configure the IP address.
